Following Jesus When He Goes Three Ways at Once

Finally, it is time for skeptics and nonbelievers to save america by demolishing zombies. Thanks be to the Almighty Bob.

Some christians have now, apparently, decided that the “christian” label had some issues, and to avoid these issues, they have started calling themselves “Followers of Christ.”

I did not make this up. This was brought to my attention by our very first blog commenter, Aump. So go the memories of this sweet time when it was my first comment. Tears come to eyes.

So heres the obligatory linkage if you don’t believe me.
Newsweek Follows the Followers of Jesus

Is it the right choice to follow jesus?

And of course, here’s a newly forged follower of jesus calling christians “jerks.”

Alright. Now, here’s where the zombies come in (did you read the bit about P-zombies yet?). The quick sound-bite sized point of the p-zombie debate is this: Is it possible for someone to behave just as a normal human, and react as a normal human would react to any given stimuli, but for there to be some conscious philosophical state where the p-zombie does not actually feel these things. If you read the wiki it makes a little more sense.

So if there’s a follower of christ, and they believe in all the same things and react in the same way as christians. Are they just acting, responding and believing that there is something else there, or are these “followers” any different in any real way?

As a skeptic I say “bring the proof.” I would imagine that this is merely a ploy to avoid the bashing words and ignoring ears that the christian community has earned itself amongst many.

But here’s to philosophical infighting and denominational backstabbing. Because remember – if you make fun of gods followers, bears will eat you.

Yeah, tell that bald old guy to get up a mountain. 42 bears await you like virgins in heaven, except you're not dead (yet).
