The weird animal of the day (this will not actually be a daily series, you’re expected to find weird animals daily) is the tentacled snake.
It’s a strange one. It has tentacles, unlike any other snake in the world, and while no one is quite sure what these tentacles are for (aside from Cthulhu impersonations) you do have to remember the evolutionary fallacy – believing that every behavior and physiological structure actually HAS an adaptive purpose. Some things are just accidents, or used to have a useful purpose – and don’t anymore.
The tentacled snake also uses an evolved impulse of the fish it hunts to be a more effective predator, turning their super-fast escape mechanism into a dash for death.
